John Wills  was born in Ilsington. His wife Sarah, or Sally, was from Combeinteignhead.  There may have been three earlier children than those baptised in Marldon (Sarah, Elizabeth and Joseph) plus an intermediate one – George – born in 1796 (who I might have missed!).  Of these, Joseph was apparently born in Marldon in 1791 and christened at Ilsington.

23  William Wills (a surgeon from Totnes) wife Sarah Mary Elizabeth <surname unknown>

26  Thomas James – baptised 20/8/1837

There was an elder daughter Elizabeth, baptised in Totnes, and three younger children, also Totnes. William John was the Australian explorer!
